Geneva (Russell) Wright

Geneva R. Wright quietly passed away on August 1, 2026, at eighty-nine years old.

She was born in Molalla, Oregon to parents, Otto and Frances Russell. Geneva graduated from Molalla Union High and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Piano Performance.

She married Darrell in 1957, moved to Madras, Oregon where she began her professional career as a private independent piano teacher. In Madras, she served as church pianist and organist, taught calligraphy, enjoyed watercolor painting and composed music.

After forty-two years, Geneva and Darrell moved to Hillsboro, Oregon where he retired and she continued teaching private piano. They moved to Miramont Pointe Senior Living in 2023.

After forty-eight years membership in the Oregon Music Teachers Association, her professional legacy can be described as a beloved teacher, adjudicator and leader including serving as State President and be named MTNA Oregon Foundation Fellow of 2012.

Her personal legacy will be remembered as a devoted marriage partner, a loving, supportive mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and correspondent. Her creative, musical Christmas cards and Oregon Alphabet poster remain as memorials to her talent and creativity.

She is survived by Darrell, her husband of sixty-nine years; sons, Donald Wright (Connie), James Wright (the late Mary); and daughter, Julia Snyder (Blair).

She leaves seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Interment will be in the Adams Cemetery, Molalla, Oregon, where she rests with her parents and grandparents and generations of ancestors.
