Lawerance (Larry) Vogeltanz Larry Lawerance Vogeltanz Beloved husband, faithful father and proud papa, Larry Vogeltanz, a Vietnam Veteran, loved golfing, fishing, traveling with friends and family, telling tales, and making friends with anyone who came his way. Larry was born April 24, 1945 in Bee, Nebraska. His family moved to Molalla, Oregon when he was 11 years old. He graduated from Molalla High School in 1963, and completed his AA at Clark College before he was drafted into the Army in 1966. He was a colonel’s aide in the 34th Engineer group in one tour of duty in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1968, and married his high school sweetheart, Verna Suhrbier on June 9, 1968. They made their home in Tigard, Oregon. Larry’s first job was at Columbia Machine in Vancouver, Washington, and then spent the rest of his career working for engineering consulting firms, retiring as a process control engineer for Intel in May of this year. He is preceded in death by his father, Lad and mother, Lucille, and leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Verna; daughters Christine Dickson (Chris) and Joyce Brown (Bruce); son James Vogeltanz (Brenda); brothers Ron and Roy Vogeltanz; grandsons Ian Brown and Jonathan Dickson; and granddaughters Lauren Brown and Ava Vogeltanz. Larry was a 44-year member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Beaverton, Oregon. His faith in Christ was solid and sure – he trusted in the Lord throughout the ups and downs in his life, and touched many people with his fun-loving attitude about life. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund had been established at Pilgrim Lutheran Church and School to fund Engineering projects that Larry was passionate about (PLC - Larry Vogeltanz Memorial). Donations may also be made to the USO in Larry's honor. Reprinted courtesy of Making Everlasting Memoriies by Dignity Memory as furnished by: Young's Funeral Home
