Carol Louise (Giberson) Stewart

October 28, 1931 - October 2, 2016

Carol Louise Stewart passed away October 2, 2016. She was 84.

The fourth of five children, she was born Oct.28, 1931 to Harold and Anna Giberson in Deer Island , Ore. She was raised on the family farm near Molalla and graduated from Molalla High School in 1950. ln high school, she played the clarinet in the band and was also a majorette. In 1953, she married Dean Stewart. When her children were small, she went back to school to become a licensed practical nurse and worked in the Oregon City area for the next 30 years.

Her interests were her family, gardening, cooking, and all the things related to family and home. She loved animals and had several wonderful dogs in her lifetime. One of her greatest joys was hosting family gatherings. She never forgot a friend and had several pen pals for 30 - 40 years. She also kept a personal daily log for 40 years, right up until her final months. Carol was a special person. She babysat her grandchildren and looked after her mother for seven years until her demise.  She loved nature and was often found sitting on her front deck watching deer graze in the meadow. She also loved the beach and sitting on a special bench with her sister just quietly watching the waves roll in.

Carol was predeceased by her parents; husband Dean; sister, Verna Simmons; brothers Roy and Ray Giberson; and granddaughter Shawna Walker.

She is survived by her sister, Geri Kern; daughter Lorene (Ken) Walker; son Darrell Stewart: grandchildren Ann Johnson,  Jason Walker and Rachael Monte; and four great grandchildren.

In the past 10 years, Carol became interested in The Jehovah Witnesses and began to study with them. She was baptized in the faith and was an active member until a few months before her demise. Carol loved her friends in The Witnesses and this gave her great joy and comfort.

A graveside service was held on Oct. 7.

Carol died at home of brain cancer.

She was the fourth of five children born to Harold and Anna Bixel Giberson. She was raised on the family farm near Molalla, graduated from Molalla High School in 1950, and lived in the Oregon City/Mulino area most of her adult life. She was a nurse for 30 years.

Carol enjoyed her faith, family, friends, entertaining, gardening, animals, the ocean and traveling. She had a great sense of humor.

She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Dean; three of her siblings; and a granddaughter, Shawna Walker. She is survived by her sister, Geri Kern; daughter, Lorene (Ken) Walker; son, Darrell Stewart; grandchildren, Ann Johnson, Jason Walker, Rochelle Montes; and four great-grandchildren.

Services have been held.
