Anita Louise (Hough) Schlitzkus

Anita Louise Schlitzkus, 89, a resident of Hillsboro community passed away on April 11, 2026 in their home at MorningStar Senior living in Hillsboro Oregon, with husband Bill holding her hand.

Anita was born on December 6, 1936 in Yuma Arizona. She was the first of two children born to Guilford and Ella Louise Visage Hough. Anita was raise in National City, California until the age of 10.

In 1947 Anita’s family moved to Oregon. She graduated from Molalla Union High School with the class of 1954. After high school Anita married Harold Edward Dale. Together they had four children, Ron, Douglas, Tammy and Valerie. Anita and Harold later divorced.

In 1969 Anita met Bill Schlitzkus while they were working at GAF (view master). After a short courtship they were manried in 1970. Together they had two more children, Chris and Dennis. Anita was a lifelong learner. Later in life, she started at Linn Benton community college and got a degree in metallurgy. She then attended Chemeketa community college for one year for alcohol counseling. She also attended Oregon State University, then went onto Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico to earn her masters degree in social work.

Anita was musically talented and could play piano and the violin. She loved having a vegetable and flower garden and had a gift for growing orchids. She also loved animals. Her list of pets included, Siamese cats, dogs, parrots, chickens, donkey, llama, and a peacock.

Anita was a good cook and a great host and loved spending time with her family. Many and most family gatherings were at their home in Lebanon, Oregon.

She has proceeded in passing by her parents, Guilford and Ella Louise Hough, brother, Raymond Hough, and a son Douglas Dale. She is survived by her loving husband Bill, five children and their spouses. Ron Dale and Donna Sage of Washington, Tammy and Kelly of Hillsboro, Valerie Fitzgerald-Layton and John Layton of Redmond, Chris and Kristen Schlitzkus of Hillsboro and Dennis Schlitzkus of Arizona. She had 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
