William Richard Neilson

William Richard Neilson, age 84, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025 in Tucson, Arizona.

Born in Innisfail, Alberta, Canada, Rich spent his early years in Molalla, Oregon. As a teenager, he worked at the Freeman Farm, where he developed a strong work ethic and a lifelong appreciation for farming.

Rich graduated from Molalla Union High School in 1958. He later earned his degree in agriculture from Oregon State University and went on to build a long and respected career in crop protection management.

Rich proudly served in the U.S. Army as a specialist five, stationed at Spinelli Barracks in Mannheim, Germany. He carried his dedication to service throughout his life.

He is survived by his daughter, Kristin Elowe; son, Jon Neilson; sister, Michele Kersey; niece, Latrisha Taylor; and extended family in Arizona and Calgary.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marguerite Duchesnay, and brother, Steve Neilson.

Rich will be remembered for his steady character and sociable nature. He had a lifelong passion for Beavers football and golf. He never missed an opportunity to strike up a friendly conversation with a stranger — a gift that brought smiles and lasting connections wherever he went.
