A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Scappoose for James L. Marquardt, who died Jan. 19 at age 80. Recitation of the rosary will precede the Mass at 10 a.m.

James L. Marquardt was born Jan. 1, 1929, in Camas, Wash. He served in the Marine Corps and moved in 1955 to St. Helens and in 1963 to Scappoose. He was a technician for Boise Cascade for 23 years. He was a member of St. Brigitta Catholic Church for about 30 years. In 1953, he married Ann Schmid; they divorced.

Survivors include his daughters, Jan. T. Fancher, Mary M. Lowry, Danelle A. Wiese and Sonia Fuller; sons, James J. and Peter G.; brother, Richard E.; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
