Robert 'Bob' Maben passed away in the early morning on Monday, May 20th. Bob ended his long fight with leukemia surrounded by family in his Newberg home at the age of 84.

Bob Maben was born in Mulino, Oregon to parents Ellen and Egbert Maben in June of 1934. He was a dedicated son, husband, father, and public servant. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1956 with a degree in Fish and Game Management, and then continued his education at Sheldon Animal Refuge.

Bob then got a job at what would become the Department of Fish and Wildlife until he was drafted in May of 1957. Bob was stationed in El Paso, Texas, from August of 1957 to May of 1959. He then returned to the Department of Fish and Wildlife until his retirement in 1993.

In the fall of 1956, Bob Maben was set-up on a blind date with Pauline Roberts. She almost didn't go. They married in August of 1957 and moved to Texas together. They had their first child, Michael, in September of 1958. They had their second, Susan, in July of 1961 and then their third, David, in September of 1962. Bob and Pauline then waited until March of 1970 to have their fourth and final child, Katie.

Bob was a passionate artist, a nature-lover, avid bird watcher, and wonderful gardener. He was a member at Grace Baptist Church and a life-long follower of Christ. He spent his retirement traveling, grand-parenting, and gardening with Pauline.

Bob is survived by his wife Pauline, and his four children Mike, Susan, David, and Katie, along with his twelve grandchildren, and two greatgrandchildren.

The memorial service will be held at Grace Baptist Church in Newberg, Oregon on June 9th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Audubon Society of Portland.
