Micheal Dale Lais

Date of birth  - June 19, 1950

Date of death  - April 25, 2026

Born on a bright, sunny day in Silverton, Oregon to Silas & Agnes. Micheal ("Mike") Lais joined his siblings Donna, Richard ("Dick") & Thomas ("Tom").

Mike graduated from Molalla Union High School in 1968 & at the age of 19, he was drafted into the United States Army.  Prior to his deployment, Mike married Kristine Sandgren & while deployed to Vietnam, they welcomed a daughter, Dawn.  He returned home & received an honorable discharge in December of 1971.

Roughly a year after his return, Kristine & Mike separated & in June of 1964, Mike married Fayne Long.  Later that year, they welcomed a daughter, Annette, who joined her older siblings Brea, Joshua & Jason Carson.

Mike was received in death by his father, Silas (1957): sister, Donna (1992); stepfather, Lyman (1996); mother, Agnes (2006); & brother, Richard (2013).

He is survived by his brother, Tom Lais; daughters, Dawn (Todd) Huston, Brad (Jesse) Houston & Annette Nunn; sons, Joshua (Jamie) Carson) & Jason (Michelle) Carson; grandchildren Katrina (Ty) Knisley, Alex Huston, Melissa Houston, Eric Huston, Jason Saxon, Marie Houston, Adam Carson, Joshua Thompson, Alex Swinehart, Jeweleah Thompson, Emma Lais, Izabelle Carson, Ryan Carson, Oliver Nunn & Olivis Carson; along with countless great-grandchildren, nieces , nephews & friends.

Like many fathers, veterans & men of his generation, parts of Mike's story were carried quietly, but the pieces that were know deeply mattered --- his humor, his independence & the love he left behind is the people closest to him.

He lived a life so full that it cannot possibly be captured in a few paragraphs.  He was stubborn, opinionated, difficult at times & far from perfect --- but he was loved beyond measure.
