James W. Lais

James W. Lais, 92, of Canby, Ore., passed away on July 5, 2024. Jim was born on Nov. 5, 1931, to Ralph and Ester Lais in Wichita, Kan.

After Jim graduated from Molalla high school in 1949, he attended the University of Oregon for one year and then transferred to NW Nazarene College in Napa, Idaho.

After graduation in 1954, he completed his seminary at Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Mo. in 1958. He then went on to minister in Oregon at Culver, Myrtle Creek, Hood River, Portland, and Canby.

He retired in 1998 after 40 years of ministry. He is survived by: wife, two sons and daughters-in-law, daughter, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Canby Nazarene (Canby Chapel) on August 7, at 11 a.m.
