Ellis Norman Kieling
September 7, 1922~January 26, 2015
Ellis passed away peacefully, of natural causes, surrounded in love by his family. He was the only child of Fritz and Helen Kieling and grew up in Canby, Oregon.
By the age of 4 he was orphaned and raised by his maternal grandparents and also spent lots of time with Grossvater and Grossmutter Kieling. He had numerous cousins from the two clans that became his siblings.
Ellis was a tall slender guy who was a hop picker, farmer and logger before attending Airplane School in Oregon City. He started working in the Red Barn at Boeing until joining the US Marine Corps in WWII. Ellis served in the South Pacific and at Guadalcanal. After the war, he worked as a cook in the Merchant Marines. Following this he went back to Boeing and was proud to have worked there a total of 47 years as a Machinist.
Ellis married Janice in 1951 and was loved by her parents and her six siblings. Ellis and Janice had 6 children and made their home on Queen Anne in Seattle for 63 years. He is survived by his wife Janice, children - Vickie (Dan) Deffries, Larry (Melodi), Mary (Jim) Lovin, Dan (Connie), John, Gary (Bobbie), 10 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
