Travis Greif

Travis Greif, 36, of Molalla died in a hunting accident Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004 in the Ochoco Mountains near Prineville.

Travis was born in Longview Wash. on Jan. 3, 1968. He was raised in the Molalla area and graduated from Molalla High School in 1986.

After graduating, Travis worked as a log scaler for several mills in Oregon and Washington. In 1991, Travis went to work for Mike Graves in Hobart Bay, Alaska. While there he met and married his wife Denise. Travis then moved to Roundup, Mont. shortly after the birth of their second child in 1993.

While Travis lived in Montana he started his own logging business (Greif Logging), this allowed him to buy big toys and call it a "business expense."

In 1999 Travis moved back to the family tree farm in Molalla, and in 2001, Travis and Denise added another son to their family. Travis was a quiet man with a ready smile. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and work outside with his kids. He was a truck driver out of necessity, but a logger at heart. Shortly before his death he had parked his truck to return to his work in the trees.

Travis is survived by his wife Denise; children Alex, Jessica and Cody; parents Lee and Doris Greif; brother Aron and grandmother Marjorie Greif.

We take comfort in knowing he died doing what he loved with people he loved and was having the time of his life when he instantly was home with the lord.

Services to celebrate his life and remember him will be held at South Clackamas Community Church in Yoder.
