She graduated from Molalla High School in 1980. She then attended the University of Oregon and was a member of the Tri Delta sorority. Merrily and Timothy went on to have six children that she coined as "The Killer B's and Queen B Brogan."

Merrily obtained her Master of Arts in Teaching from George Fox University and was an educator at Saint Paul and Mount Angel schools for 21 years. She worked endlessly to provide her students the best education possible and was a strong role model to the hundreds of students she taught.

Timothy and Merrily made Canby, Oregon their home for the past 22 years. They enjoyed watching their 16 grandchildren play together on the farm, all the while making memories together. Beyond her passion for her family, Merrily, was an exceptional quilter attending countless retreats and sewing scores of quilts for family and friends. They also enjoyed Duck athletic events, hunting, fishing, and having family trips together at their cabin in La Pine, Oregon.

Merrily is survived by her husband of 38 years, Timothy, their six children and their families: Beau (Alison, Henry, Nolan), Brock (Jessica, Hadley, Harper, Decker), Blaine (Ashley, Cade, Tucker, Gunner, Duke, Lillian), Blake (Jordan, Elsie), Burke (Katie, Parker, Kinley), and Brogan (Joseph, Charlie, Gemma, Myriam, Maccabee).
