Virginia Mae (Marts)Davenport Date of birth - April 26, 1931 Date of death - January 19, 2026 Virginia Mae (Marts) Davenport was born on April 26, 1931 in Molalla, Oregon to William and Rose Marts. She was the youngest of four children. She grew up on the family farm and everyone worked on it. Growing up in high school she played the trumpet and was on the girls’ basketball team. She also became involved in the local Lutheran Church. She was a volunteer with the US Army Civilian Program called the Aircraft Warning Service where she helped watch for potential enemy aircraft during World War II. It was at Molalla High School that she met Clarence (Bud) Davenport who had returned to school to finish his senior year after serving in the military. After graduation, they began to plan their wedding which was held on November 6, 1949. They were married for over 50 years before Bud died of cancer on Feb 7, 2000. They lived in numerous cities in Oregon and Washington. Regardless of the many moves, Virginia always found a Lutheran Church to call home and be a part of. They had four children, Linda Platt (Bill), William Davenport, preceded in death Patricia Cherry (Quinn) and Joseph Davenport (Barbara). She had 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren of which she was very proud. She loved serving her family and her church family in many ways. She was always Virginia passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026 at River Terrace Memory Care where she had resided for over 2 years. |
