Dianne C. (Martin) Cassel

Dianne C. Cassel, 73, of Wilsonville died peacefully with her children at her side Saturday April 16, after a long battle with cancer. She was born July 11, 1942 in Portland, Ore., to Ernie and Dora Martin who later moved to Molalla, Ore.
She graduated from Molalla Union High School in 1960, and was married to Jon M. (Mike) Everhart from 1960 until 1978, living in Oceanside, Calif., and Portland, Ore., before returning to Molalla to start a family. In 1980, she married William D. Cassel of Molalla. They were married until 2007.Her career endeavors were many, including stints at her parents' furniture store, an insurance/finance company in Portland, Arrowhead Restaurant, and ownership of a popular craft and gift shop in Molalla. 
Her second marriage took her to Grangeville, Idaho, Fairfax, Vir, and Des Moines, Wash. Along the way, she held many sales positions, and owned a take and bake pizza operation in Des Moines. She returned to the Canby area in 1993, where she found joy in gardening, being close to her family, and helping raise her grandchildren. Dianne also worked at the Molalla Pioneer and was active in civic and business organizations in the Molalla area.
In 2007, she moved to Charbonneau, Ore, eventually moving in with her daughter after her diagnosis, then to Marquis Wilsonville as her disease progressed.
Dianne was an avid crafter who always had a project underway and enjoyed making things for others. She also loved flowers and never missed a chance to work in the garden.
She is survived by her children, Michelle Widmer of Aurora and Michael Everhart of Molalla, two stepchildren, Brady Cassel of Tigard, and Mindy Stephens of Sequim, WA, sister Barbara Dean of Lake Oswego, brother Dennis Martin of Woodburn, and brother Steven Martin of Beaverton. Dianne leaves behind 6 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm Saturday, May 7, at Zion Lutheran Church, in Oregon City. Dianne loved her pets and watching her grandchildren participate in school activities. Her wish is that memorial contributions be made to Project Pooch c/o Sequoia Veterinary Clinic in Canby, or your local high school music program, high school equestrian team, or lacrosse program.
