Through the years he enjoyed hiking, backpacking, camping, fishing, especially trout fishing, cross country skiing, elk hunting, and he even did mushroom hunting. In his younger years he did travel across the US with friends doing a car trip; he visited all over Europe, and the Virgin Islands. In 2018, Arnold retired and moved to Mystic Mountain —Glide, Oregon. He enjoyed all those years, “Up on the mountain” and it suited him. Sadly, Arnie was one of the several of his family members afflicted with Huntington’s Chorea, a scourge for which there is no treatment. He and I were 1973 grads of Molalla Union High School, and went on to attend the University of Oregon. ----------------------------------------------------------- Posting on FaceBook by Dick Schoonover: Rest In Peace My dear friend Arnie Beyer. Arnie and I attended high school and the University of Oregon together, where he took a dregree in economics. We went to Europe together, and did Oktoberfest. Arnie was an avid angler and huntsman, and after a career as an electrician, retired to a ranch he’d purchased on the edge of the Cascades near Roseburg, Oregon. We’re [Dick Schoonover and Arnold Beyer] pictured here at Autzen Stadium for my Dad’s 92 birthday. Godspeed Arnie… Godspeed.
