Esther Sheets passed away March 16, 2017. She was 90.

Esther Sheets was born on Nov. 17, 1926, to Lewis and Buena (Snell) Mitts in the family home on Jackson Road, Canby, Ore. Esther went to Dryland School and Molalla High School.

On July 10, 1943, she married William (Bill) Sheets. They were together for 56 years. In 1971 Esther, Bill and their two youngest daughters drove to Florida in the pickup and camper to watch their son and brother, Bill Sheets, pitch for the New York Yankee Farm Team.

Esther ran the "Sheets Berry Farm" on Jackson Road in Canby, Ore. for more than 35 years. She loved hard work. She made and hand-quilted over 30 queen-size quilts for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She crocheted numerous afghans, more than 100 lap robes for Meals On Wheels and missions in the Portland area. She knitted hats and scarves for her granddaughter, Sarah's school in Hood River. Esther's last project was knitting neck scarves for the homeless in Oregon City this winter.

Esther sold the farm that was in her family for more than 100 years after her husband, Bill passed. After he passed, she moved into the Twin Fir Mobile Park in Molalla, Ore. and enjoyed her flowers, family and friends. In April 2016, she moved to Gilman Park in Oregon City, Ore.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; son, Billy; daughter, Nancy; and sister, Margerita Owen.

She is survived by her daughters, JoAnn (Gary) Kellar, of La Grande, Ore., Judy Reasoner, of Molalla, Linda (Reid) Segal, of Lake Oswego, Ore.; brother, Lewis Mitts, of Ryder, Wash.; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
