Walter Ernest Schoenborn

Walter Ernest Schoenborn was born in Oregon City, Oregon on July 5, 1930 to Henry and Kate Schoenborn. He spent his early years in Mulino on the family farm. He graduated from Molalla High School in 1947 where he was very active in sports and clubs.

Walt married Caroline Thompson on July 28, 1950 and continued to work with his dad on the berry farm. He then drove truck and worked logging for 4 years. He started his career as a Federal Meat Inspector in 1955. Walt worked for 30 years inspecting various meat plants throughout Oregon before retiring in August of 1985.

Walt enjoyed playing baseball and later softball for many years. He was an active fisherman and hunter. Following his retirement, Walt and Caroline sold antiques for 30 years. They also owned property on the Salmon River near Otis with his personal fishing hole.

Walt was active in many churches over the years, including 58 years as a member of Gladstone Nazarene Church.

He was very proud of the fact that he and Caroline had been married for over 72 years. Walt is survived by his wife, Caroline; daughters Linda Klemsen , Cindy Lonn; and son Daniel Schoenborn and his wife Sharon. He also leaves five grandsons, Mark and Ryan Schoenborn, Jake Klemsen and Bryan and Billy Lonn as well as three great grandchildren, Connor, Shay and Kynley Schoenborn.

A celebration of life will be held on May 6, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Gladstone Nazarene Church at 4180 S.E. Jennings Ave., Milwaukie, OR 97267. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gladstone Nazarene Church - Walt Schoenborn Memorial Fund in his honor.
