Wayne Edwin Oglesby

Wayne Edwin Oglesby, 86, died Aug. 16, 2009 in Molalla.

He was born June 8, 1923 in Meadowbrook, Ore. to Charles E. and Ida Mae (Ball) Oglesby. He grew up in the Mulino area and attended the Union Mills grade school. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II, from 1943-1946. On June 8, 1946 he married his wife, Beverly, in Vancouver, Wash. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver early in his career. He was then self-employed for 38 years in TV sales and repair. After retiring, he managed the Stagecoach Inn Motel for several years.

He loved to hunt, fish and bowl. He was active for many years in the Molalla Christian Church and loved working with the young people in Christian Endeavor. He also served on the board of Wi-ne-ma Christian camp and was active in Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3973. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Molalla Church of Christ. His family and friends say they’ll remember his love of people and sense of honor.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly; daughters, Tamara Oglesby and Connie Emmons; sisters, Geraldine Miller and Laverne Fisher; two grandsons and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held Saturday, Aug. 22 at 10 a.m. at the Molalla Church of Christ, with James Petty officiating. Burial will be at Adams Cemetery in Molalla. Arrangements are being handled by Molalla Funeral Chapel.
