The vehicle veered off Highway 211 and overturned in a creek, with the driver, Cody Allen Loop, 18, of Canby, pinned inside. Loop died at the scene. A Canby man died and a Molalla man was seriously injured in a Sunday morning single-vehicle accident on Highway 211 southwest of Colton.

Cody Allen Loop, 18, of Canby, crashed his 1999 Ford Ranger pickup into a creek between Colton and Cedarville near Short Fellows Road. Oregon State Police received report of the accident at 9:51 a.m. on May 30, but the actual time the accident occurred remains unknown. The pickup landed about 300 feet from the highway and its view from the road was obstructed by trees, according to a press release from OSP.

The pickup was overturned in a creek and Loop was pinned inside. He died on the scene before fire department personnel could extricate him, according to OSP reports. His passenger, Timothy L. Buyes, 18, of Molalla, was seriously injured.

Buyes was found about 100 feet away from the pickup when police arrived. He was transported to Legacy Emanuel Hospital for treatment. As of Tuesday afternoon, he remained in serious condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

It has not yet been confirmed if the two young men were wearing seatbelts.

Loop and Buyes had been seen in the Estacada area late last night. Anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to call OSP Northern Command Center dispatch at 800-452-7888.

Highway 211 was closed for about three hours on Sunday, with traffic being detoured to Short Fellows Road and Dhoogie Road.
