Otis Bland Foglesong


 

 Otis Bland Foglesong, 87, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died Aug. 15, 2011 after a long battle with cancer.

He was born June 16, 1924 in Molalla, Ore. to Otis George Fogleson and Beula Lee (Bland) Foglesong.

He married Marquitta (Rice) Foglesong on April 25, 1943.

He started as a young boy working in his father's feed and farm store in Molalla until 1958 and continued in this line of work in Hermiston and Eugene, Ore. until his retirement in 1980.

He was one of the survivors aboard the U.S.S. Ommaney Bay, destroyed Jan. 4, 1945 in the South Pacific. He was active in the order of Masons, VFW, Lions, Scouting, Elks and the Methodist Church.

Hobbies and activities included wood working, gardening, farming and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Marquitta; sons, George Scott (Dianne) Foglesong and Otis Loyd (Pam) Foglesong, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was particularly proud of his children and grandchildren.

He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. at Marquam United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Rand Sargent. Molalla Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Marquam United Methodist Church or the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #3973 Cancer Fund.
