The Alumni Association Scholarship Committee has announced their 2007 scholarship winners this week at the annual Molalla High senior awards assembly. 

Four $1,000.00 awards were made to seniors Adam Bernert, Kaylee Crosby, and Julia Midkiff.  Holly Pribble has been chosen as the first recipient of the Richard E. and Mary E. Marquardt Scholarship.  Richard was a Molalla graduate in the Class of 1946.  Last year he and his wife established a named scholarship with their donation of $25,000 to the Alumni Association.

Two other scholarships in the amount of $1,500.00 were awarded to Sarah Haqq and Marshall Roses.  All scholarship are funded totally by donations from the alumni of Molalla High School or by friends and family of alumni.  Since 1994 the Alumni Association has given scholarships worth a total of about $50,000.

Alumni Daniel Wyland (1968) donated his late wife's book collection to the Molalla Library.  Charlene (Gifford) Wyland's (1970) collection of 8,000 books include subjects on History, Art, Art History, Children's Books, Poetry, Novels, World Literature, World Religions, Travel, Science and so on.  See Steven Amick's wonderful Oregonian article on this gift in the Metro/NW section of the June 30, 2003 edition of the newspaper.
